Founder and Director Colander
Caroline Cole studied Architecture at Cambridge University and has worked as a consultant with practices such as Arup Associates and Crighton Ltd where she became Managing Director. She has also worked as a client commissioning architects and designers, most notably for Olympia and York in the first phase of Canary Wharf. Using her experiences on both sides of the fence, she went on to run the RIBA Clients’ Advisory Service and Competitions Office, before setting up Colander: the organisation that helps architects develop their business skills to create a profitable balance between professional excellence and business acumen. Colander also works with developers and building owners helping to write development briefs, select the right consultants for specific building projects and facilitate effective design team working.
Caroline has published numerous articles and papers about the business of design and has spoken at many conferences and seminars to promote good design to clients and, conversely, good business to the professions. She is a Trustee of the Ove Arup Foundation.
